Scholarship Coverage
Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program includes the following benefits:
- Economy class air travel between your home country and the university at the beginning of your study program and at the end of the scholarship period. In addition to the two-way air travel, scholars will be provided a US $500 travel stipend for each trip;
- Tuition fees for your graduate program and basic medical insurance will be provided.
- While on campus during the scholarship period, a monthly stipend to cover all living expenses (accommodations, food, books, etc.). The allowance may vary depending on the host country.
The scholarship does not include:
- VISA application(s) expenses
- Courses that do not meet the minimum credits necessary for the graduate degree;
- Language training will not be provided during the graduate program;
- Extra travel during the study program;
- Expenses for research, extra educational materials, field trips, participation in workshops/seminars, or internships
- Educational accessories such as computers.
- Resident permit fee
- Costs to support scholar’s family members;
- Extra-curricular courses or training;
Eligibility Criteria
- English is the required language.
- All World Countries’ nationals can apply.
- Not hold dual nationality of any developed country.
- Be enjoying good health.
- Has possessed a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree at least 3 years before the application deadline.
- Have 3 years or more of current development-related work experience after accomplishing a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree;
- Be employed in development-associated work in a paid full-time post at the time of the scholarship application. The only omission to this condition is for developing country nationals from a country that will be on the recent list of Fragile and Conflict States delivered to applicants in the application rules for each call for scholarships.
- On or before the Scholarship Application Deadline date, be admitted completely (except for funding) for the future academic year to at least one of the Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship affiliated university master’s programs situated outside the applicant’s country of citizenship and country of residence registered at the time the call for scholarship applications open. You must upload a letter of admission before submitting your application.
- Not be an Executive Director, his/her substitute, or staff of any type of position of the World Bank Group or a close relative of the prior by blood or adoption with the term “close relative” defined as Mother, Father, Sister, Brother, Son, Daughter, Half-sister, Half-brother, Aunt, Uncle, Niece, or Nephew; *Please note: All eligibility criteria are strictly observed to and there will not change during an open call for applications.
