What is MEXT (UR) Scholarship?

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) presents scholarships to various Japanese universities in 2022-2023.

Three types of MEXT Scholarships are available:

• Bachelor’s Program: The candidates must have completed 12 years of studies outside of Japan.
• Master’s Program: The candidates must have finalized their 16 years of education in a country other than Japan.
• Doctoral Program: The candidate must have completed 18 years of education from a non-Japanese university.

Scholarship Criteria for APU University Japan

• All international students can apply for the APU University scholarship.
• The international candidate must aim to study abroad in Japan.
• The candidate must be a national of a MEXT-eligible country.
• The date of birth of the candidate must be or after April 2, 1988.
• The candidate must have attained a GPA of at least 2.30 in the latest degree.

English language requirements

The English Proficiency eligible test score is equivalent to a B2 or above on the Standard European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) scale (e.g., TOEFL iBT 72 or above, IELTS 5.5 or above).
